My brother Grant was to arrive in Denver on Wednesday, August 27th to visit me. But two days before he died by suicide. Grant had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) four months earlier.

After hearing the news, I had gotten online to read about the disease. I learned that the risk of suicide was 10 times higher among people with MS than in the general population.

I remember thinking to myself, this was something we needed to be aware of down the road, when perhaps Grant was more impacted physically.
