With the reversal of Roe v. Wade, discussions regarding how this will impact the lives of those with a uterus have been swirling.

It goes without saying that this decision has far-reaching implications that many of us haven’t even thought of. One of these involves the ways in which changes will be made for therapists and therapy in states where trigger laws have gone into effect and abortion has effectively been outlawed.

The American Counseling Association issued the following statement on June 24, 2022: Obviously, this spawned a bit of a panic in the mental health community as to what liability, if any, a therapist might incur should a client disclose the intent to obtain an abortion.
