I woke up this morning only to wish that I didn’t. Every day, when I first open my eyes, I forget. I forget the pain. I forget the monotony. I forget the amount of effort it takes for me to function. I’m sure, by now, most of you have heard of ACEs, otherwise known as adverse childhood experiences. And that experiencing adversity at any point in life, particularly in childhood, can impact health outcomes long-term.

The moment I realized I was pregnant, I tried to dial my emotions down.
