Object Constancy: How COVID-19 Lockdown Triggered My Borderline Personality Disorder

I’m halfway through a long-term group therapy program, which was extended by six months due to lockdown as we didn’t meet for a while, initially, until we began to use Zoom and then Microsoft Teams for our sessions.

In therapy, I’ve made good progress with my borderline personality disorder (BPD) symptoms. Some of them seem to be barely there anymore, and others are much reduced.

However, recently, I experienced a flare-up of some old feelings and behaviors, triggered by lockdown. The first lockdown wasn’t so bad for me.
