He always says, “Huh? I don’t know, I forgot.”She doesn’t seem to understand the lessons.They can’t repeat back what is said to them.She reads okay, but her reading comprehension is poor.

When parents hear these comments from school, they may wonder: What’s going on? Do my child’s struggles stem from ADHD? Or are they having trouble understanding language?

Could it be both? Or something else entirely? And who can help us figure this out?As a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in a public school, I commonly evaluate for language disorders, which can look a lot like ADHD and other conditions.
