They are putting effort into maintaining their attention on work, focusing on teachers, and using self-regulation skills to keep their body calm.
They do all of this, in part, because they want their classmates to have what I call “neutral thoughts” about them, meaning their classmates are aware of their presence but not really thinking about them (and vice versa) because they’re doing what’s expected for the context of the situation.
