When you have a physical disability, moving to another state or part of the country is complicated. There are so many reasons why we can’t just pick up and move to another place that able-bodied people don’t think about, and so many things we have to consider when we do have a possibility of moving.
And yet, our lives as people with disabilities are often fundamentally shaped by where we live. Moving can bring us closer to loved ones and give us access to better disability services and supports — but it can also do the opposite.
